Teach English at WSE
Yasmin
Hi! I'm Yasmin and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I'm working in Shenzhen (a new city located in the Guangdong Province which is southern China) and enjoying the pace of life and work at SZ2, which is located in the Nanshan District. Shenzhen has been my introduction to China, so I've enjoyed the modern conveniences this city has to offer. The staff and management at Wall Street have been very supportive in more ways than one which has made life easier in a foreign country. Working for an English language training company has some great benefits. At Wall Street, I have been amazed by the variety of students you meet from all over China to the close-knit community feeling you experience with your colleagues. Working in China as a Teacher is a life-changing experience and you can learn as much from you students as they do from you!
China is a fascinating place to be living in at the moment and has much to offer foreigners. While every city is different, and Shenzhen is not known for its long-standing traditions or rich culture, it is certainly a young, modern and exciting city still expanding and developing. With the advantage of being in close proximity to Hong Kong, Shenzhen opens up more and more and with this exposure, the demand for English grows exponentially. Asia is an exciting place to be working and living at the moment, and in particular, China. Come over and see for yourself!
Eric
My name is Eric Friedman, and I'm working in Shanghai in Wall Street's Jin Mao Center. I came to mainland China after a three-year stint teaching English in Taiwan, an amazing place. So why did I leave Taiwan? In fact, more and more Taiwanese are coming to mainland China to work, study, and live, and I figured I’d follow them to find out what all the fuss was about. Well, they are on to something. While Taiwan has given me some very fond memories, from day one mainland China immediately attracted me for its dynamism, culture, and people. Rarely a day goes by without Western media making mention of China in the news, and I arrived to find the country more developed, more cosmopolitan, and more energetic than I could have hoped. I’ve been in the mainland for almost 5 years and I’m loving every minute of it.
Imagine living in a city with Asia’s second-tallest building; the world’s most cutting-edge transport, a magnetically-levitating high-speed train; what will soon be a subway system with over 325 km of track; a sophisticated financial market; and a fast-paced city life that takes your breath away. That is a brief look at the growing, cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, where I currently live. I’ve been living that life for a while and I can’t imagine going back. While people rightly talk about Chinese culture and history, I appreciate the comforts I can get living in mainland China. China is a place where you can find every convenience, from your favorite comfort foods (like my raison-d'etre, chicken wings), to the latest movie or blockbuster novel -- and you won't be alone! You’d be surprised how much Chinese people love Western pop culture like Harry Potter and basketball.
Don’t stop there. I’ve traveled to over 25 provinces to experience firsthand the beauty, generosity, adventure, and frankly, uniqueness of China. Give China a try. You won’t regret it!
